About Me:
I have been a travel writer since 1995 when I won the Lowell Thomas Award for best Adventure Travel article. I won this award again in 1998. In 2007 I won the NATJA award for best Travel Narrative book for my memoir: Places in Time.

I have been published in numerous newspapers and magazines including the San-Diego Union Tribune, The Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle,, Christian Science Monitor and Insight Guides and my work has been anthologized in Traveler's Tales and in Random House anthologies. For several years I was the art/culture columnist for the magazine Caribbean Travel & Life.
I write mostly about culture and people and am currently focusing mainly on travel essays which I am collecting for my next book "Always Desire Beauty." I am also a children's book author and my books for young people have a strong influence from my travel. For example my upcoming picture book ( Pomegranaate Books,2017), Mirabelle in Paris, is a love letter to that city and its beautiful architecture and monuments.
