Gerry Watkins

Biography

Gerry and George Watkins, a travel writing/photography team, work out of their home in Euless, Texas, the heart of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. They freelance as well as edit and provide photography for an online magazine, Sundancer’s West, located at http://www.sundancerswest.com/

The Watkins team has published hundreds of articles in hard copy magazines and newspapers across the country. They both hold charter memberships in North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA) and East West International News Bureau (EWNB). Gerry has served as NATJA Regional Vice President and now serves as a board member. George has served one term as a NATJA board member.

Gerry formerly wrote Happenings, a travel column for Travel World International,, the EWNB, that brought both writers and travelers up to date on what’s “happening” in the travel industry.

Gerry began freelancing twenty-five years ago, and has garnered countless awards for writing and photography. George began providing photography for articles on a full time basis after he retired from Fort Worth’s Bell Helicopter in the early 1990’s.

From 1996-1999 the team created and maintaine4d two on-line magazines, Travel Destinations, and Trails West, for another company, attracting more than 350,000 surfers per month. They established their current Web site three years ago. The site includes an on-line magazine, western literature and arts, western museums, and various art galleries.

The Watkins travel to many unique places and events in order to bring exciting stories to their on-line magazine, as well as other publications that publish their work. The team is available for travel assignments.
