Biography
Christopher Cirillo, a native of Mobile, Alabama, and longtime resident of the Gulf Coast, has traveled extensively throughout the Bahamas and Caribbean, and has lived in the United Kingdom and Europe where he worked as a journalist and news photographer. Cirillo is author of Spanish Wells Bahamas | The Island, The People, The Allure, a 2011 Amazon No. 1 Caribbean-Bahamas bestselling travel book. In addition to writing and travel, Cirillo is a registered paramedic with over 20 years' experience. He continues to serve as a regional emergency medical services system administrator. During his public-safety career, he received a special commendation merit award for his leadership commanding emergency medical responders during Hurricane Katrina on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. An avid scuba diver since 1985, Cirillo earned his Divemaster certification in 2011, and his Open Water Scuba Instructor rating in 2012, from the Professional Association of Diving Instructors at Emerald Coast Scuba in Destin, Florida. Cirillo is a member of the North American Travel Journalists Association, a Registered Paramedic with the National Registry of EMTs and a Teaching-Status Open Water Scuba Instructor of the Professional Association of Diving Instructors.
