DAN CHRISTOPHER - Dan Christopher is a seasoned traveler, travel writer, veteran broadcast journalist and also an award winning professional photographer. Dan Christopher Photography - a full service boutique portrait and commercial studio - is based in Portland, Oregon.

Thanks to the diversity of Dan's career background he is able to bring unique and artistic perspectives to his written and photographic works.

During his 40 year career in television news, Dan worked as a front-line news anchor, reporter, producer and writer. His photographic styles are both journalistic and classic.

"Like my interest in journalism, my love for photography and travel writing is steeped in a natural curiosity about the human condition and the desire to capture personality and perspective. No matter what the subjects, there are stories to tell. By blending photography and the power of the written word, I can share experiences and reveal avenues of opportunity for others."

Dan's works include his most recent book, PORTLAND Sunnyside Up, an album of 120 images and text showcasing "The City of Roses" when it positively sparkles

"I actually began creating photographic images and writing stories nearly 40 years ago while serving in the Army in South Vietnam. Capturing the culture and beauty as well as the chaos and poverty of Third World living was a spellbinding experience that impacted my style of photography and writing for years to come. Through my lens and with the written word, I focus on the humanity and sensitivities that are often overlooked."

Among the most compelling photographic and personal experiences for Dan, was on a mission trip to Africa. It included writing, photographing and producing videos for African S.M.I.L.E. a charity organization dedicated to enhancing medical and education entities in the remote village of Iambi, Tanzania. Dan also served on the Board of Directors for African S.M.I.L.E.

His most recent international travel brought Dan to several cities and remote sections of China:getting to know the people, sharing their homes and meals, learning their philosophies, their way of life and visiting their icons.

As an active member of his community at home, Dan donates thousands of dollars in photography each year to fund raising auctions for non-profit charitable organizations. The benefactors include dozens of schools, boys and girls clubs, community colleges, the Portland Rose Festival as well as Doernbecher and Shriners hospitals.

Dan is an active member of NATJA, North American Travel Journalists Association. He also served multiple terms on the Board of Directors for Professional Photographers of Oregon. He is an active member of Portland Metropolitan Photographers Association and Professional Photographers of America. Dan is also on the Board of Directors for the Portland Veteran's Administration Research Foundation.

Dan and his wife Laurie have raised two children in Portland. Brandon and Chelsea are now actively pursuing careers as young adults.
