Red Willow Band to headline Local Presents Folk Off & Rib Challenge at Strawbale Winery: Introducing Opening Act Albert & Gage

Strawbale Winery is gearing up for summer with the announcement of Red Willow Band headlining the July 30, 2016 Folk Off and Rib Challenge. This is a fundraiser for Boys and Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire and for the Friends of Traditional Music. The event features a local’s only rib and music competition. Arrive early to judge ribs as last year’s successful event sold out almost every rib vendor with over 1,500 attendess throughout the day. Scheduled to compete are defending champs Squealer’s Smoke Shack along with Heck’s Dakota Style BBQ, Big Rig BBQ, Big J’s Roadhouse, and Tim’s Grillin’. The music competition features local and regional acts in genres of Americana, Folk and Roots. Music starts at 10:00am and will conclude at 9:00pm. Approximately sixteen musical groups are set to perform and will compete for a spot as opener at the Sioux River Folk Fest. Headliner Red Willow Band is based in Southeastern South Dakota and was inducted into the South Dakota Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. The band has been playing since the mid-1970s. Albert & Gage were recently added as the opening act for Red Willow Band.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 the day of the event. They can be purchased at Stawbale Winery or on Feel free to bring a lawn chair or blanket. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at Strawbale Winery. Local breweries Fernson, Woodgrain and Zipline are scheduled to participate. No outside food, beverages or pets will be allowed.
