Governor Asa Hutchinson announces proposal for War Memorial Stadium

At a news conference Tuesday morning, Governor Asa Hutchinson laid out a proposal for the future viability and sustainability of Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium. The Governor’s proposal would move War Memorial under the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism (ADPT). The proposed move will provide stability and access to resources that have previously been unavailable. In addition to the move, the Governor will have a feasibility study conducted on the prospects for the long-term future of the stadium.

Q4 2016 Car Rental Rates Forecasted to be 14% Lower Than 2015

Auto Europe, a leading provider of international car rental services has released a forecast of European travel trends for the remainder of 2016 and the first half of 2017. The study, found here, highlights a comparison of rental rates for Q4 that shows rates in the top 3 most popular pickup countries will be on average over 14% lower this year compared to Q4 2015 based on advanced bookings. According to the study, travelers are taking advantage of reduced rental rates by choosing to extend their itineraries by an average of a half of a day. The forecast also includes an early-bird review of the most popular destinations for the first half of 2017.

After a $70 million, 28-month-long re-imagining and renovation, Little Rock’s Robinson Center will celebrate its grand re-opening on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016.  Originally built and opened in December of 1939 as a WPA project, this iconic and historic building (it is on the National Register of Historic Places), will mark another milestone in Little Rock’s ongoing revitalization.

CVB welcomes pheasant hunters to Sioux Falls

Hunters from across the country will be streaming through the Sioux Falls Regional Airport for the opening of pheasant hunting this weekend. The Sioux Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), along with local businesses will be welcoming hunters who use the state’s largest airport to travel to the best pheasant hunting land in the nation. The CVB has been hosting the Hunters Celebration to provide information on Sioux Falls hotels, restaurants, and attractions for over 19 years.

Media is encouraged to cover the event. Staff from the CVB will be rolling out the red carpet to hunters Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 12pm-7pm and Friday, October 14, 2016 from 9:30am-7pm.

Kimberly Williams named director of Arkansas’s Great River Road

Kimberly Williams, a 20-year veteran of the Arkansas tourism industry and Delta native, has been named director of Arkansas’s Great River Road. The Great River Road-Arkansas National Scenic Byway is part of a 10-state driving route along both sides of the Mississippi River, from its headwaters at Lake Itasca in Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico in Louisiana. In Eastern Arkansas, the route travels through 10 counties that are along the river or historically associated with the river.
