Greers Ferry Lake and Little Red River Tourism Association celebrates its 50th year

The Greers Ferry Lake and Little Red River Tourism Association and the Army Corps of Engineers are seeking volunteers and sponsors to pitch in from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sept. 10 during the 47th Annual Greers Ferry Lake and Little Red River Cleanup. In addition, to celebrate the Tourism Association’s 50th year, the association along with area businesses and attractions are hosting the first ever “Love the Lake and River Weekend,” Sept. 9-11 with free camping to all cleanup volunteers, free behind the scenes tours, activities, and up close and personal community experiences.

NYTimes /Scruff Survey Names Puerto Vallarta "Off The Beaten Path" Gay Travel Destination

Puerto Vallarta, which in January of this year, became the newest city to say I do to same-sex weddings legally, was named the #1 “off the beaten path” or “surprisingly gay friendly” travel destination in the world in a survey pertaining to gay summer travel and conducted in conjunction with the New York Times, SCRUFF, one of the leading gay dating apps in the world (with 10 million members worldwide). The ranking also indicates positivity pertaining to safety in the destination.

Auto Europe, a leading provider of international car rental services has released a study of 2016 booking data, which includes a forecast of European travel trends for the second half of 2016. The study, found here, features the top 10 most popular pickup destinations for U.S. and Canadian residents based on car rentals picked up between January 1 and June 30, 2016. Our rental data from the first half of the year shows U.S. travelers picked up rental cars in Dublin the most often and most Canadian travelers elected to pick up their cars in Rome.

Clinton Birthplace Home National Historic Site in Hope tells story of 42nd U.S. President

This month America celebrates the centennial year of the National Park Service, NPS. U.S. President Woodrow Wilson signed the act that created the agency on August 25, 1916.

Among the national parks in Arkansas celebrating the event is the President William Jefferson Clinton Birthplace Home National Historic Site in Hope. The home is where Bill Clinton, the 42nd U.S. President, spent the first four years of his life with his mother and grandparents.

Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge opens veterinary clinic

Tanya Smith dreams big. But then, taking care of big cats requires that.

Smith is president and co-founder of Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge, an exotic wildlife sanctuary federally licensed and regulated by the United States Department of Agriculture. Located in Eureka Springs, this non-profit organization currently has 57 large natural habitat enclosures ranging in size from 5,000 sq. ft. to 20,000 sq. ft. in which more than 60 exotic and native cats, six black bears, one grizzly bear, and a variety of other animals reside.
