2020 August Featured Journalist of the Month: Greg Goodmacher

Greg has two addictions: telling stories and bathing in Japanese hot springs. His work has appeared in in-flight magazines, online magazines, Japanese tour guides, and university textbooks. He also teaches tourism at a Japanese college. Greg’s claim to fame is that he has soaked in approximately 600 onsens from the north of Hokkaido to the southern islands of Okinawa.





2020 August Featured Journalist of the Month: Deborah Grossman

Deborah Grossman is a San Francisco Bay Area food, drink and travel journalist. Her specialty is writing gastronomic travel articles with focus on experiences at the global dining table. Deborah has traveled broadly from Italy and France to Hong Kong, Chile and Morocco and judges at international wine competitions. She writes for both online and print publications such as Travel Examiner and iSanté. Deborah grew up in Delaware, studies and worked in London, England, lived in Mississippi, and settled in California where she is Poet Laureate Emerita of her hometown.

Martin started his career as newspaper photographer and writer, advancing to managing editor of 9 weekly newspapers. He Left to form ad agency/pr firm which ran for 35 years. Sold two years and started travel blog Wandering Rose Travels with his wife. They write about their active travels in the hope of inspiring others to hike, bike or paddle when they travel. He got to write and do photography a bit with the agency, but it was so marketing-oriented it was more for pay than pleasure. He is thrilled to return to writing and photography as a passion in this new chapter. Martin is a NATJA bronze winner for Health and Wellness Travel - Online

Aaron is a veteran magazine editor and writer, with over 20 years experience in the business. He established his career with staff editorial positions, progressing through the following titles: PC Computing, MacWeekly, Wired, Rock & Ice, VeloNews, and Outside Magazine. In 2009, he left his full-time position at Outside to pursue a writing career. Since then, he has written and continues to write for Men's Journal, National Geographic Adventure, Virtuoso Life, Departures, AAA, and DestinAsian, among others. He is also a salaried contributing editor at Outside Magazine.

In addition, we boast over 30 hotels and 3,000 rooms for great sports and event capacity. We're also home to the world-famous Apple Blossom Festival, which is over 90 years old.

Andrea Granahan is a freelance magazine writer, editor, and photographer. She has worked with outlets such as the Navigator, the Sonoma Coast Quarterly, Fishermen's Newspaper, The Paper, and more. Her outstanding work has also been recognized by the California Newspaper Publishers Association, the National Newspaper Publishers Association, Lincoln Steffens Investigative Reporting, and the Manalli Literary Awards. Andrea has worked on several books as well: It's Greek To Me, Backstories from the West Edge, The Man with the Portable Love Room, Other Stray Thoughts, and Loving David. She will soon publish The Wandering Widow.

Jen Ruiz is a lawyer turned full-time travel blogger and author. In 2017, she set out to complete 12 trips in 12 months while employed as an attorney. She surpassed her goal, completing 20 trips in 12 months. In the span of one year, she visited 11 countries and 41 cities, all while managing to be back in time for court by 9 am on Monday morning.During her self-proclaimed "year of adventure," Jen was able to find airline deals like a $16 flight to Ecuador and $38 flight to New Zealand. To meet the growing demand for tips on flying for less she wrote her debut book, "The Affordable Flight Guide: How to Find Cheap Airline Tickets and See the World on a Budget." It became a #1 Amazon bestseller in 8 categories and was named a 2018 Readers' Favorite Award winner. Jen has since authored three more books. She is a two-time TEDx speaker and has presented at conferences like the Women in Travel Summit and New York Times Travel Show. She was named "Top 40 Under 40" by the Naples Herald. Jen speaks Spanish fluently and is currently living in Humacao, Puerto Rico.
