During this season, what are some must-see attractions?
Fall and Winter are peaceful times to visit Catalina, offering mild temperatures, fewer crowds, and clear skies. Visitors can hike or bike the island’s scenic trails, take a guided interior or eco-Jeep tour, and explore Avalon’s shops, restaurants, and waterfront activities. The Catalina Island Museum for Art & History also hosts rotating exhibitions ideal for cooler-weather days. And for running enthusiasts, the Catalina Island Half Marathon and 10K take place on November 8, offering a stunning course through the island’s rugged interior and along its breathtaking coastline. Holiday celebrations include Shop Catalina, Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony complete with carolers and Santa, A Holiday Open House at Mt. Ada and the famous New Year’s Eve Gala in the Casino Ballroom.

How did you learn about NATJA and why did you join?
Several years ago when the conference was being hosted in Oxnard, a colleague invited me to join and for Catalina to host a pre conference media trip.
Is there anything else you feel travel media should know about your destination?
Nearly 90% of Catalina Island is protected by the Catalina Island Conservancy, preserving its landscapes for generations to come. This stewardship allows visitors to explore a true Southern California treasure, an island where conservation, adventure, and relaxation live side by side.
