Indoor entertainment

When the weather turns from long sunny, warm days to crisp, autumn days with less sunshine, it doesn’t mean the fun is over. It just means you might need to take the party inside. For those who have been enjoying outdoor concerts, festival and shows over the past several months, there are still ways to enjoy those vibes – but in the comfort of the indoors. Check out our Indoor Entertainment blog to see where you can start indoor adventure!

Veterans Day

Veterans Day is a day to recognize and remember those who have protected our country through military service.

You can attend a military tribute in South Holland on November 5th, a Veteran’s Day breakfast in Palos Heights on November 6th, the Richton Park Veterans Day Parade on November 8th, A Veterans Day service in Lansing on November 9th and Veterans Day ceremonies on November 11th in Palos Park and Forest View. Wherever you choose to celebrate Veterans Day, be sure to honor and thank those who have served.

Run off the festive food

Thanksgiving is usually our largest meal of the year, and that makes it the perfect time to run off those extra calories! The 32nd Annual Turkey Trot Race takes place on November 8th in Orland Hills and will include a Junior 1-mile race as well as the open 5K. Christmas comes early to the Brookfield Zoo for their Reindeer Run on November 15th, where you’ll get to zip around on foot under the holiday lights. Homewood will host their Butterball Burner 5K Fun Run on November 23rd, and Chicago Gaelic Park will have their Carraig Challenge, a 5K and a 1.5-mile walk, on November 30th.

Dia de los muertos

November 1st and 2nd mark the observance of the Day of the Dead, a Mexican cultural celebration dedicated to honoring and remembering deceased loved ones through offerings, altars, and communal gatherings.

The Burbank Park District will be hosting a Dia De Los Muertos celebration on November 1st, complete with food trucks, games, music and more. Also taking place on November 1st Blue Island’s Day of the Dead celebration which promises to include three live bands and craft vendors.
