The 35th annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, the largest and longest-running unsanctioned powerboat race in the country, returns to Central Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks the weekend of Saturday, Aug. 26 and Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023.

Named one of the “must-see boating events in the country” by Boating Magazine, the high-speed, action-packed Lake of the Ozarks Shootout takes place at Captain Ron’s Bar and Grill in Sunrise Beach. Race weekend sees over 100 powerboats competing in different race categories with boats racing individually to see who can log the fastest speed to be crowned the overall “Top Gun” for 2023.

Last year’s run of 207 miles per hour earned team American Ethanol the coveted Top Gun award. American Ethanol has won the Top Gun title for the last eight years.

All proceeds raised from the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout and its corresponding events are donated to eight Lake-area fire and rescue departments and numerous charitable organizations around the Lake of the Ozarks. In 2022, the Shootout raised $625,000 for 40 different local charities.
