Check out our new series of photos and see how the everlasting sunshine graces our town hour by hour from 9pm to 5am. Experience 24 Hours of Light in Fairbanks, Alaska!
Cast away your clock and immerse yourself in light. This series of photos chronicles the sky hour by hour all night long and reveals how our amazing sub-arctic world is transformed via an enchanting prolonged twilight. To assist viewers, we developed a Midnight Sun Stamp that specifies the time and date the photograph was taken. All photos were taken in the Fairbanks area between 9pm and 5am in June of 2022.
World Eskimo-Indian Olympics
The 61st Annual World Eskimo-Indian Olympic Games (WEIO) will take place in Fairbanks from July 13 through 16, 2022. A four-day series of traditional Alaska Native athletic competitions, WEIO draws Native athletes and dancers from around the state, the United States, Canada and Greenland, as well as visitors, fans and media from around the globe. In addition to the incredible athletic competitions, WEIO offers the blanket toss, indigenous dances, authentic arts and crafts for sale, a pageant and other cultural activities.

The everlasting sunshine during Fairbanks’ Midnight Sun Season, creates amazing growth and, as a result, the Tanana Valley Farmers Market is truly spectacular. Peonies, potatoes, carrots and cucumbers are just a few of the flowers and vegetables you’ll find. Alaska-made gifts to take home with you include wild berry jams and jellies, Alaska Native handicrafts, jewelry, artwork, apparel, Alaska birch syrup and more. You can even grab lunch from a local food truck or stand while you do your shopping!
