The Chicago Southland is lighting up with some exciting events and activities to enjoy this July! 4th of July

Celebrate the 4th of July in the Chicago Southland with one of these exciting events!

Those looking to take part in a 5k run/walk can do so in Orland Park on July 3rd and Beecher on July 4th.

Celebrations with fireworks will take place in Calumet City and Palos Heights on July 3rd, and FrankfortOrland Park and South Holland on July 4th. Beecher will be holding their multi-day festival on July 2nd-5th, with fireworks and a parade on the 4th.

You can also attend an Independance Day parade in Homewood and Blue Island on July 4th.

Frankfort Bluegrass Festival

The Chicago Southland is home to dozens of festivals throughout the year, and Frankfort is home to one that will get you tapping your toes and dancing in the streets. The Frankfort Bluegrass Festival was founded over a dozen years ago as a not-for-profit, free, family event showcasing talents of bluegrass performers from throughout the world. Free concerts at Fox Pointe

Summer is the perfect season to catch a concert, and the Chicago Southland has tons of musical talent for you to enjoy! From Fox Pointe’s free Wednesday and Friday concerts to Country Club Hills Ampitheatre summer concert series, you can check out all of the live music events here.

Get a taste of Shakespeare in the Southland

The year 2016 marked 400 years since the death of William Shakespeare and to commemorate the most famous playwright in history, Moraine Valley Community College added a garden in his honor. Read all about it in our blog before checking it out!

National Hot Dog Day

July 16th is National Hot Dog Day, and you can head to celebrations at El Morro Park in Oak Forest for a hot dog and a round of golf, or a hot dog and a concert at Palos Park Recreation Center in Palos Park.
