About Me

Tonya Fitzpatrick is CEO for World Footprints Media and executive producer and co-host of the award-winning World Footprints radio show. World Footprints is a leading voice in socially responsible travel and lifestyle. Along with her husband Ian (also a recovering attorney) they use their multi-platform assets to raise awareness about a variety of important social issues like the environment, conservation, cultural preservation and human rights, through engaging interviews with celebrities and news makers including Dr. Maya Angelou, Bobby Kennedy, Jr., Ken Burns, Jack Hanna and Iron Chef Cat Cora. World Footprints has been credentialed to cover major national and international events including the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympic Games, 2012 London Olympic Games, United Nations General Assembly, French Quarter Festival, Baltimore Grand Prix, and Calgary Stampede, among others. The radio show has been awarded "Best Travel Broadcast" from NATJA and World Footprints has been nominated for several other journalistic awards. Prior to embarking on a career in journalism Tonya was appointed as a Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education, and she previously served under a federal defense contract as the Senior Legal Advisor for the Office of Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Today, she enjoys her role as a travel journalist and frequently covers the White House, United Nations and Congress. Both Tonya and Ian have authored several publications: - Washington, DC in 4 days (UnAnchor.com) - Baltimore & Beyond Travel Guide (Sutro Media) - Global DC (currently in production through Sutro Media) - Success Simplified with Steven Covey, et al., (Insight Publishing) Tonyas life has consisted of many exciting travel experiences. She has lived, studied and worked abroad in England, China, Russia and Romania and her many travels have taken her through many regions of the world including a backpacking trip to through several Asian countries. As a scuba diver and ocean conservation supporter, she gravitates to coastal areas. Tonya graduated from the London School of Economics, East China University of Law and Politics, and Wayne State University Law School. She also won a fellowship at Michigan State University in the Michigan Political Leadership Program. Tonya is a student of the arts and previously worked at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego and the Globe Theatre (under the late Sam Wannamaker) in London. Her greatest education, however, has come through traveling and meeting the beautiful citizens of our world and her greatest achievement is her role as travel ambassador.
