With Thanksgiving just around the corner is a time of togetherness with family, coupled with a delicious feast, making it one of the most sought-after holidays of the year. Nayarit has an array of places for you to enjoy any meal of the day, from fine dining places to simple palapas by the beach, country food and traditional places. TheIsland of Mexcaltitán, believed to be birthplace of Mexicas or Aztecs, they can find very traditional Nayarit dishes like: camarones cucaracha, taxtihuil decamarón and fresh sea food in an island surrounded by mangroves. By the beaches of San Blas and Santiago Ixcuintla enjoy a red snapper zarandeado, hand made tortillas, as well as the typical shrimp aguachile with a touch of spiciness.

In the Pueblo Mágico of Jala visitors can not miss on Saturday and Sunday “El Rincón Campesino” a very organic restaurant where they will enjoy anything thing made from the unique corn of Nayarit known to grow as the longest cob. Nearby in Santa María del Oro by the old federal highway from to the Tepic to Guadalajara and stop at La Sierra and try their home-made panela cheese, sour cream, fresh corn Jala tortillas and their barcacoa, roasted lamb, roast suckling pig and other delicacies.

Along with all the different types of restaurants and with Nayarit´s exquisite gastronomy, during November’s events are a must. In the Riviera Nayarit, from the first Sunday all to way to the end of April along its 192 miles Farmers Markets can be found along several coastal towns each one with a Food Court enjoying local grown products, homemade dishes and restaurants offering a taste what can found on a night out.

November brings great events, like the 28th edition of the Festival Gourmet International, being able to taste the different restaurants that have their own festival.
