NORTH LITTLE ROCK (Tuesday, May 30, 2023) – For the second year, North Little Rock Tourism will host “North Little Rock Night at the Travs” at Dickey-Stephens Ballpark at 400 W Broadway Street in North Little Rock on Thursday, June 15, 2023. The Arkansas Travelers minor league baseball team plays against the Corpus Christi Hooks at 6:35 p.m.
“North Little Rock Night at the Travs is an opportunity for the North Little Rock community to come together and do something fun,” said Erica Warden, Director of Events for North Little Rock Tourism. “Especially after the March 31 tornado, the impacts of which our community is still feeling, North Little Rock needs a night to just get out for a while and enjoy a baseball game.”
The public is encouraged to get free tickets for the June 15 game at the North Little Rock Welcome Center, located at 600 Main Street, Suite 120, in North Little Rock. The North Little Rock Welcome Center is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. North Little Rock city employees are eligible for up to four (4) game tickets and non-city employees are eligible for up to two (2).
North Little Rock Tourism also announced that Jimmy Ray of Dog Town Pizza will throw the first pitch on June 15.
“As the only North Little Rock restaurant to sustain significant damage from the March 31 tornado, Dog Town Pizza needs to feel the love and support from its community,” said Stephanie Slagle, North Little Rock Tourism’s Director of Marketing. “They were newly opened and gaining traction when the tornado hit. We wanted to give them a spotlight as they rebuild their business and show that their community is rooting for them to succeed.”
Dog Town Pizza at 5500 Mac Arthur Drive in North Little Rock opened in November 2022 after a $125,000 remodel as “Amboy’s only full-service pizza restaurant”, serving specialty and build-your-own pizzas, pastas, sandwiches and salads. Reviews on Google and social media had been promising in the months before the March 31 tornado. The restaurant has launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with cleanup efforts: https://www.gofundme.com/f/kenr2b-clean-up-and-rebuild.
North Little Rock Tourism will have a table with Dog Town Pizza’s information as well as North Little Rock branded giveaways. For more information about North Little Rock Night at the Travs, visit northlittlerock.org/june-15-north-little-rock-night-the-travs or join the Facebook event.
