Media attendees have the opportunity to request participation in a post-conference press trip as part of their conference registration. These space-limited tours will take media beyond Galveston to explore various points of interest throughout the area.

Austin, Texas

Post-Conference Trip

Austin’s NATJA post-fam press trip will include a variety of activities such as a City Tour, Sunset & Bat Watching Cruise, museum tour, two-stepping lessons, live music, great food (BBQ & tacos promised), outdoor soft adventure and much, much more. Visit Austin will secure transportation for guests from Galveston to Austin (exact details TBD). A few of the activities will be pre-arranged for set times as a group; however, we want you to explore our fun and unique city at your own leisure and pace. “Yes, media can bring a guest. They can join us for group meals, but for individual meals on their own, we would not provide extra funds for those. We can also book them on activities. We would not cover the guest’s travel.”

The Woodlands is just north of Houston and is a beautiful wooded area. Fun activities during this visit include a trolley ride, art bench walk/scavenger hunt along The Woodlands Waterway, kayaking/paddleboarding on Lake Woodlands, and shopping at Market Street. A highlight is a Brooks & Dunn concert on the evening of May 17th at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.

Participants on this tour will have the opportunity to visit the city’s botanical gardens and conservatory, take in a cattail marsh van tour and a birding excursion.
