In Kansas, you will see stars and not just the kind that line a boulevard. It’s not our nature to celebrate ourselves. We celebrate real luminaries. Those that light up our night sky and those who brighten our landscapes. In Kansas, we love fast cars and slow-cooked brisket. We build machines that touch the sky but stay grounded in the things that matter most. We live out loud and embrace the solace of silence. We conquer rocks and celebrate on the rocks. We ride like the wind and live for the water. The Kansas experience is a salute to the real.

To the rowdy.

To the wide-eyed wanderers.

To the dreamers.

To The Stars.

1. ) What is your destination most known for?

Outdoor activities and adventures, sunsets, and wildlife opportunities. But there is so much yet to be discovered, like our foodie & art scenes, our incredible history and movements such as Bleeding Kansas and Brown v. Board or Wild, Wild West. There are unique urban & rural experiences throughout Kansas.

2.) During this time, how can we enjoy your destination?

This is hard to answer since we are operating at pre-pandemic levels in most to all aspects

3.) What hidden gem should not be missed when visiting your destination?

Our rock formations, quirky grassroots art scenes in Mullinville, Lucas, and Lawrence, and the fried chicken of Southeast Kansas.

4.) What’s one feature that can’t be missed when visiting your website?

Our blog, it can be found under the Trip Ideas section or at travelKS.com/blog

5.) How did you hear about NATJA, why did you join?

My predecessor was a member and highly encouraged our organization to continue our membership. We value the opportunities to connect with other destinations & DMO’s, as well as building relationships with media across North America.

It’s unexpected and surprising. Kansas is the vacation you didn’t know you needed!
