Visit Syracuse, Inc. is Onondaga County's official marketing organization for tourism related economic development. We support the city that wants you to rally your passions, find life’s shining moments and celebrate them in a place where true colors never fade; a place where independent spirits and an energetic community come together in perfect harmony. As the oldest convention & visitors bureau in New York State, Visit Syracuse, Inc. aims to strengthen the positive awareness of the Greater Syracuse area as an all season destination even in our famous snowy winter months, we are the Official Home of Winter after all. Most importantly we invite you to live our brand promise of Do Your Thing.

What’s one attraction that can’t be missed when visiting your destination?

It’s hard to pick just one but shopping is the number one reason visitors flock to Syracuse. Syracuse is home to Destiny USA, New York State’s largest enclosed shopping, dining and entertainment destination. Destiny USA is also the sixth largest shopping venue in the country and houses more than 250 high-end, brand name tenants; including outlets. Electric-powered go-karts, the world’s largest suspended indoor ropes course, mind-blowing amusement at WonderWorks, wasting away again in Margaritaville and more, make Destiny USA more than the average mall.

What story ideas will travel media uncover at your destination?

You’ll discover endless travel friendly article ideas throughout the Greater Syracuse area. From shopping, dining and pampering - to history, community revitalization, festivals, sports and more --- there are endless stories to tell. Syracuse can be discovered as a green getaway (eco-friendly tourism), a craft beverage and foodie paradise, a perfect family friendly destination, and a historic haven. We are also known for our agritourism, music scene, vineyards, and beautiful spots to get out and enjoy nature.

What plans, events does your destination have scheduled that travel media should be aware of?

We’re home of the oldest running state fair-The Great New York State Fair which is all the rage in August/September. Pig out on fair food (where we embrace local finds), play games at the midway then go to a headliner show at the Lakeview Amphitheater. We’re also home to great festivals no matter what the season. From Winterfest to the New York States Bluesfest to even Baconfest, there’s something for everyone. St. Patrick’s Day is a big deal and we kick off the season in February with Green Beer Sunday. Cultural festivals are always a hit, no matter what your background is you’re always welcome to join in for food, music and fun.

Is there anything else you feel travel media should know about your destination?

We want you to live our brand promise while you’re here! DO YOUR THING. What Thing? Well, that depends on you. It’s whatever you are passionate about. We’re not going to tell you there’s something for everyone… instead we’ll say bring your something to us and we’ll celebrate it right along with you. Whether it’s delighting in dog shows, cruising the historic Erie Canal pleasing your palate, earning stamps on our Sip on Syracuse beverage trail, getting curious about the culture, or taking in the medical and drone technology and sustainability efforts, your adventure waits! It’s YOUR THING.
