The 12th Annual Savor the San Juans: A Fall Medley of Food, Farms & Film

invites visitors to taste the food & farm culture of the Islands

Friday Harbor, WA… "Autumn is the mellower season, and what we lose in flowers, we more than gain in fruits." — Samuel Butler. Join us as the gourmet archipelago celebrates over a decade of great food, local farms, and independent filmmaking. Savor the San Juans encompasses film festivals, farm tours, harvest dinners, workshops, demonstrations, and much more.

Ease into a slower time of year while indulging in the food, spirits, music, and natural beauty of Orcas, Lopez and San Juan Islands. Sample the artistry of award-winning chefs using ingredients from the land and sea of the San Juans.

Take advantage of lodging, dining, and transportation specials during harvest season. Open gates will allow visitors to get an intimate tour of the islands’ most beautiful farms, creameries, wineries, flower gardens, shellfish farms and more. Taste Island Grown foods and wine, beer, cider, and spirits, during a selection of farm-to-table dinners by local chefs.

A sampling of events:

  • All three islands will hold special all-day Farm Tours that include activities such as sheep shearing demonstrations, a fermentation workshop, cider pressing, and local snacks. The San Juan Island Farm Tour will be September 21st-22nd, Orcas Island September 28th-29th, and Lopez Island October 5th-6th.
  • New this year, Orcas Island Winery will host a DIY Cheese Board workshop with Girl Meets Dirt to kick off the farm tour on Friday, September 27th from 6-8pm. Other local vendors and makers will also be featured. Sip, learn and create a style workshop. Participants will be able to take goodies home. Find your new favorite wine with their 2-for-1 wine tastings throughout Savor the San Juans.
  • Coho Restaurant and Madrone Cellars pair up on October 26th to provide an unforgettable wine dinner featuring wines from Madrone’s estate winery on San Juan Island. Inspired by French Champagne, Bordeaux reds and the dry white wines of Alsace, it’s a taste of Europe in the San Juan Islands.
  • The 3rd Annual Hops on the Rock festival is literally shutting down the streets of Eastsound on November 9th to host a weekend of drinking, dancing and NovemBEER events all across Orcas Island. Live music, local food, and 20+ local breweries from around the region will be featured.

Pack your spirit of adventure and discover a moveable feast for the senses.
